iQo Strengthens Its Retail Banking Expertise with the Arrival of Denis Tassel

Paris, October 7, 2025

iQo continues to grow and announces the appointment of Denis Tassel as a Partner, bringing more than 25 years of experience in supporting major transformations in retail banking.

His career path illustrates a clear common thread: helping financial institutions adapt to a constantly changing environment, now marked by the rise of data and AI, as well as increased expectations regarding impact.

Denis Tassel, Banking Consultant

What is your career path?

After graduating from HEC in 1993, I began my career at Société Générale in a role that was as hands-on as it was exciting: Branch Manager.

In 1998, I joined Eurogroup as a consultant to help banks with their transformations, always in the retail banking sector.

I then joined Exton Consulting in 2009, a firm specializing in financial services. As part of the acquisition of Exton in 2021, I joined the Banking team at Accenture Strategy.

And now, since October 1, iQo has been guided by a common thread: supporting the evolution of an exciting and constantly changing industry —retail banking.

My guiding principle is to keep pace with the changes in a fascinating and constantly evolving industry: retail banking.

Why did you decide to join the iQo project?

  • To join an entrepreneurial venture and contribute to the next phase of growth, following an initial five-year period that has already established iQo as a major player in the consulting industry
  • To find, within a firm on a human scale, the fundamental elements of consulting as I envision it: the quality of service provided to clients, independence in recommendations, tailored solutions, and a long-term relationship built on trust
  • To join well-established teams, some of whom I've known for a long time
  • To drive innovation in the consulting industry by expanding the core aspects of the profession to include Impact, Data, AI, and more...

This desire to blend technical excellence and strategic vision by accelerating on AI is fully in line with my approach to the challenges of transformation.

What are the major challenges currently facing retail banks, and how is iQo addressing them?

The changes taking place in retail banking have been evident for several years, but they have accelerated significantly in recent times:

  • the role of new players in the conquest,
  • an accelerated decline in branch foot traffic
  • broader trends in customer expectations, …

Banks must rethink their service model by optimizing a range of touchpoints that has never been more extensive but that requires further development to turn it into a source of customer satisfaction and increased business.

The use of data and AI, combined with value-added human interactions, presents major opportunities to create new connections.

At the same time, in a complex and volatile economic environment, effective management of the operational model is essential to ensuring profitability and maintaining the flexibility needed to carry out all these transformations.

Passion?

Plenty of them, and all perfectly respectable 😊 Running, traveling, reading *L’Équipe*, literature… the only limiting factor is time!
